Tracking you and your baby’s health throughout your pregnancy is vital. During your prenatal visits I’ll conduct physical assessments, draw labs, refer for ultrasounds, develop a birthing plan and consult with physicians when necessary. Personalized attention to your specific needs is the hallmark of our care. You will get to know our midwife and student well.

Having a baby should be a positive experience, so my main focus is to create a safe and comfortable environment for you to bring your baby into the world. Water birth tubs and TENS units are available to rent to help with pain relief. Surround yourself with your family and friends if you so chose. Begin bonding with your baby immediately in the comfort of your own home.

My job isn’t done once delivery is over. I stay with you for 2 - 4 hours after birth to be sure you and baby are stable. Your midwife will stay in close contact with you after your birth to provide any assistance you need for healthy recovery. Up to three postpartum visits for you and baby are included in the early pay global birth packages. Weight checks, newborn screening, and critical congenital heart screening is done at your postpartum appointments for your baby.

Hi, I'm Jen! I'm an experienced midwife of 17+ years who has attended hundreds of births in a variety of settings. I completed my midwifery schooling in 2004, then apprenticed with several different midwives as well as completed two midwifery internships at birth centers in Senegal, Africa and in the Philippines. I opened my first solo practice in 2007 in Northeast Pennsylvania. I am a Certified Professional Midwife and Licensed Midwife in the state of Texas, Ohio does not currently license homebirth midwives. I have also held a license in Wisconsin.
I moved from PA in 2021 to work as a staff midwife at a large local birth center in Austin, TX before returning to home birth midwifery in 2022. In May of 2024, my husband received a promotion that included a move to the Sandusky, Ohio area. I look forward to serving the families of the greater Firelands area of Ohio.
I'm experienced with singleton, twin, breech, and vbac deliveries. I love the autonomy and intimacy that a small practice brings for me and for my clients. I typically only take on 1-2 clients per month.
